After the Thomians dominated day 01 of the 138th Battle of the Blues, Ravindu Kodithuwakku and Dulith Gunarathna came out to bat on day 02 when the Thomians were 33 runs for the loss of no wicket. The third year coloursman and the fresher put up an opening partnership of 127 before young Gunarathna was dismissed by Ramanayake for 35 runs. The Royalists bowling attack kept pressuring the Thomian batsmen, causing them to take more risks. As Kodithuwakku was nearing his century he was caught at 98. This was his second time he fell just short of a venture at a Big Match.
Ramanayake was mainly responsible for the fall of Thomian wickets as he picked up 2 wickets including the crucial wicket of Dulith Gunaratne and breaking the 127 run partnership.
Unfortunately for the Thomians the match was called off due to bad light when they had just leveled the score, 255/4.
