The Buddhist Student Association of S.Thomas’ College, Mt.Lavinia organized the blood donation campaign under the theme “ A drop of your blood can save a life” , on the 24th of June, 2016 from 9.00am to 2.00pm. The campaign was held in the school premises with collaboration of The National Blood Transfusion Centre, Narahenpita. The blood collected would go the national Blood bank, Narahenpita.
All donations to charity make a difference whether they consist of money, clothing or simply a couple of hours spent voluntarily. While every contribution is equally important, nothing is comparable to the donation of human blood. No matter how further science advances blood which is a part of human body cannot be artificially created. That is why blood donation is more precious than anything in the world.
Generally anyone age of eighteen years or older, weighing at least 110 pounds and in good health can donate blood. Blood donation is a simple four step process which includes registration, evaluation of medical history and mini physical status, blood donation and refreshments. It is a safe process.
The association proudly announced that a total of fifty nine students and staff of STC have volunteered in this camp for donating blood .The Buddhist Student Association is grateful for the generosity of students and staff who donated blood and honored and feel privileged to make blood donation an annual event.
