The young boys in blue once again demolished another opponent on the way to victory road. Science with a young but eager side could not stop the Thomian onslaught which was dished out at the Airforce Grounds in Ratmalana on the 11th of June.
Both teams hailing from Mount Lavinia were at loggerheads during the first few minutes of the game, however Naveen Henakamkamage broke through the rock solid defence of Science and he scored two tries in the first half itself. Science on the other hand missed countless opportunities to score even with a somewhat laggy Thomian defence which was seen throughout the first half. Ashwantha Herath stayed true to his reputation and converted all field goals and conversions.
Once again Science was put in a tight spot as the Thomian forwards upped their game and made the agile hits and tired out the Science defence. Thus the Thomian line was given enough room to work as they ended Science’s hope of fighting back as the T homians scored two more tries in the second half. At the end of play, Science was left in complete tatters as they had no try scoring opportunities but they accepted defeat like gentlemen and congratulated the victors. Now the path is open for the Thomians to conquer the Singer League and take the trophy home.
